Tom PetersTom's take: *“People first” is terrific. But it is (a) vague and (b) doesn’t go close to far enough. “Enriching and rewarding lives” is far more inclusive—and suggests far more than people as an “asset” from which growth and profits follow.
“People first” is about means to an end—enterprise success. But “enriching and rewarding lives” is also an end in and of itself. Of course, the good news is that the latter (“enriching and rewarding”) is also the surest approach to mid- to long-term enterprise effectiveness and, yes, excellence. Our take: In the hands of the pilot team, and eventually the whole population of the organization, the value of Tom Peters' insights are to enhance the prioritization of the human beings comprising the organization; and the release of their generative potential in service to organizational transformation.
